Cooking in a pressure cooker made easy but at what cost?
Pressure cookers become very popular among us because it many advantages?
- It's very easy to operate.
- Saves Time and fuel.
- It's quick and convenient.
There are so many advantages that we don't care about one disadvantage of the pressure cooker and the only disadvantage is very scary and concerning. That's what we call, Why Pressure cooker is a curse to our health?
Cooking Lentils in a pressure cooker
Lentils and legumes are generally considered best for health and provide better nutrients than eating genetically modified vegetables and fruits which riped artificially.
The most commonly used lentil to make curry is Toor dal also known as Arhar dal.
As per studies, when a cup of tor dal with rice is cooked properly it fulfills the daily requirement of nutrients.
Toor dal is the primary and rich source of protein, carbohydrates and fiber especially for vegetarian and it also contains folic acid, Vitamins C, E, K, B complex along with minerals magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, iron and many more, I can write a separate article on this.
Any living being will breakdown under pressure either Human or lentils.
As we know pressure cooker is designed in such a way that it cooks the food in less time using steam pressure, and we also know stem is very powerful that's why thermal engine is replaced by a steam engine in trains.
Do You Know, As per the studies when any food is cooked in a pressure cooker then it will lose it's 97% of nutritional value. The food you eat becomes worthless it will only satisfy your hunger not health.
So How to cook food without a pressure cooker?
Lentils: Soak overnight or a minimum of 8 hours it will not only soften up to 50% but also becomes more digestible. And boil for 20 minutes to soften up to 90% and the remaining 10% will be cooked while cooking curry.
Remember Sprouted moong dal is more healthier option because it has developed a new life.
Rice: Soak for 1 hour before cooking and boil until it's cooked by 90%, drain the leftover water and leave aside for 15 minutes.
Best Cookware for cooking
Food cooked in Bronze utensils are considered best as food will not lose any nutritional value.
